Manyavar Kanshi Ram Government Degree College was established in May 2008, by the Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Uttar Pradesh. The foundation stone was laid down by Dr. Rakesh Dhar Tripathi, the honorable Minister of Higher Education, Uttar Pradesh. Among the dignitaries present were: Dr. Mia Jan, Director of Higher Education of Uttar Pradesh, and Dr. Chander Vijai Chaturvedi- Honorary Adviser to the Minister of Higher Education along with the Vice Chancellor and the Registrar of CCS University, Meerut. The occasion also witnessed a large gathering of local population who were happy to receive their first ever government degree college in their district of Ghaziabad. The college serves as a centre of higher education both for the girls and for boys. It provided opportunity to the neighboring population of Nandgram, which has a relatively high population of underprivileged gentry, to avail higher education for their children. The first academic session of the college commenced from 2008-2009. From the very beginning, the college was privileged to have faculty members recruited by the Government of Uttar Pradesh on the recommendation of Uttar Pradesh Service Commission. The college offers B.A., B.Sc., and B.Com. Ever since its inception, the college has grown in reputation as being one of the pioneer colleges of Ghaziabad district for the traditional courses of BA, BSc and B.Com.
