Govt. Girls’ PG College of Commerce, Haldwani, affiliated to Kumaun University, Nainital was established on 31st March 1996 at Nawabi Road, Haldwani as a result of the long-cherished demand of local people and public representatives. It was later on rechristened as Indira Priyadarshini Govt. Girls’ PG College of Commerce and has got the credit of being the first and theonly Govt. Girls’ PG College in Uttarakhand. This college had commenced its journey with 85 students and seven subjects in Arts. In 2001 and 2005 Commerce and Science were also started respectively. At present there are 2480 students pursuing nine subjects in Arts, PG diploma in vocational course namely Yoga and alternative therapy, B.Com, B.Com.(Hons.), B.Sc., M.A.English and Hindi, and M.Sc. in Botany, Physics and Chemistry. The college is catering to the educational needs of the aspirants of higher education with its vision ofextending qualitative education in various disciplines of knowledge by enhancing aptitude and skills of the students not only to face the future challenges but also to grasp future opportunities.
The college is also committed to provide vibrant platform to impart holistic education that includes sensitization to issues likehealth and hygiene, environment and sustainability, human values and professional ethics. In this eco-friendly environment students are performing excellently by securing gold medal and places in top 10 lists ofKumaun University toppers. They are also getting excellent placements in different institutions and banks.
