About Himalayan Institute of Design

The Himalayan Institute of Design & Technology (HIDT) is located in the centre of the Dehradun and has its own campus spread in more than 3.25 Acre of area. Our Campus is clean & green situated in the safe surrounding of ONGC.

With an objective of Quality Education, ONGC Mahila Samiti led by Mrs. Shobhana Wahi started a Vocational Center in 1987 which in due course of time developed into a full-fledged Design Institute where the courses of Fashion Design, Textile Design and Garment Technology are running. These courses are recognized by All India Council of Technical Education and Affiliated to Uttarakhand Board of Technical Education, Roorkee.

The Institute is located within ONGC Campus. Initially land, building and other infrastructure was provided by ONGC. The Institute was working for the Women Empowerment since regime. Now after completing a journey of 35 years in serving for the noble cause of Women Empowerment.

Subsequently a need was felt to provide Higher Education in the field which we are already specializing like Fashion Design and the courses which are in demand in the market like Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication, B.Com and B.Sc. (IT) etc. Hence the concept of HIDT was conceived.

We are now expanding our horizon by starting few Degree Courses to impart higher education to both girls and boys i.e. in Co-ed mode. The courses are Approved by UGC, Ministry of Education, and Govt. of India and recognized by SRI DEV SUMAN UTTARAKHAND UNIVERSITY.

Aiming at creating a centre par excellence for higher education, the Institute has come in existance in 2022 as a unit of B.S. Negi MTPK. To begin with HIDT has embarked into its journey with four degree courses, affiliated with Sri Dev Suman Uttarakhand University. Our Courses curriculum encompasses the prime objective of Education for Vocation and aims to give an edge to our students in this competitive world.
