CUET UG – 2025

The National Testing Agency has been mandated by the Ministry of Education and UGC to conduct the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for admission into Undergraduate Programmes in Central Universities under the Ministry of Education, and other participating Universities / Institutions / Organizations / Autonomous Colleges.

The CUET (UG) provides a single window opportunity to students seeking admission in any of the Central Universities (CUs) or other participating organizations (including State Universities, Deemed and Private Universities) across the Country.

For the Academic Session 2025-26, CUET (UG) – 2025 will be conducted in the Hybrid mode (Computer-Based Test (CBT) / Pen & Paper) as per the details given below:

The details of the programmes offered by Central Universities (CUs), State Universities, and other participating Universities / Organizations are available on their respective websites as well as on https://exams.nta.ac.in/CUET-UG/ Candidates must carefully refer to the eligibility requirements of the programmes offered by various Central Universities and participating Universities / Organizations in this regard.

The list of participating universities is dynamic. Candidates are advised to regularly visit NTA website(s) www.nta.ac.in, https://exams.nta.ac.in/CUET-UG/ for the latest updates regarding the examination and participating universities.

The CUET (UG) – 2025 will be conducted in 13 languages i.e. English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

The CUET (UG) – 2025 is being offered in 380 cities including 26 cities outside India (Annexure 2).

Note :
1. From the above subjects/languages, the candidate can choose a maximum of 06 (six) subjects from all three Sections.
2. 40 out of 50 questions for all test papers and 50 out of 60 for the General Test (An overall choice of 10 questions will be provided for all 61 subjects).
3. It is advisable for candidates to select at least one language and the General Test.
4. Duration for all test papers would be 45 minutes except for Mathematics/Applied Mathematics, Accountancy, Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Computer Science/Informatics Practices, and General Tests which would be 60 minutes.
5. The examination will be conducted on multiple days in two or three shifts, depending on the number of Candidates and Subject choices.

Important Instructions:

  • Candidates can apply for CUET (UG) – 2025 through the “Online” mode only on the website https://exams.nta.ac.in/CUET-UG/ The Application Form in any other mode will not be accepted.
  • Only one application is to be submitted by a candidate. Under no circumstances, candidates will be allowed to fill more than one Application Form. Strict action will be taken, even at a later stage, against such candidates who have filled more than one Application Form.
  • Candidates must strictly follow the instructions given in the Information Bulletin and on the website https://exams.nta.ac.in/CUET-UG/ Candidates not complying with the instructions shall be summarily disqualified.
  • Candidates must ensure that the e-mail address and Mobile Number provided in the Online Application Form are their own or Parents/Guardians’ only as all information/ communication will be sent by NTA through e-mail on the registered e-mail address or SMS on the registered Mobile Number only.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for CUET (UG) – 2025

Ques 1 : Where can I access the syllabus of Common University Entrance Test CUET (UG) – 2025?

Ans : The syllabus of the CUET (UG) – 2025 is available on the website: https://exams.nta.ac.in/CUET-UG/

The candidates are advised to rely on the authentic source i.e. https://exams.nta.ac.in/CUET-UG/ for the syllabus and other related information regarding the CUET (UG).

Ques 2 : Is there any choice in the total number of questions in a subject ?

Ans : An overall choice of 10 questions is being offered in all 63 subjects/languages of the CUET (UG) – 2024.

40 out of 50 questions are to be attempted in all subjects including languages.

50 out of 60 questions are to be attempted for General Test.

Ques 3 : How many subjects candidates can choose ?

Ans : Candidates may choose a maximum of 06 Subjects including languages (Indian and Foreign) and General Test.

Note : It is advisable for candidates to select at least one language.

Ques 4 : Total No. of Slots ?

Ans : The examination will be conducted on multiple days with 03 shifts in a day.

Ques 5 : No. of Questions per Subject ?

Ans : 40 out of 50 questions are to be attempted in all subjects including languages. The duration of the test will be of 45 minutes duration.

Except in subjects i.e., Accountancy, Economics, Physics, Computer Science / Informatics Practices, Chemistry, Mathematics / Applied Mathematics, and General Test, the duration of the test will be 60 minutes.

Ques 6 : Medium of the Examination ?

Ans : CUET (UG) – 2025 will be conducted in Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

However, the selection of medium will be restricted to States/UTs as per the criteria given on Page No. 14 of the Information Bulletin available at https://exams.nta.ac.in/CUET-UG/

Ques 7 : Number of Cities ?

Ans : CUET (UG) – 2025 is being offered in 380 Cities including 26 cities outside India.

Ques 8 : Policy for Drop Question ?

Ans : If none of the options is found correct or a question is found to be wrong or a question is dropped, then all candidates who have attempted the dropped question will be given five marks (+5) marks.

Ques 9 : Use of Scribe ?

Ans : PwBD Candidates have the option to either bring their own Scribe or ask NTA to provide a Scribe. For this, they need to opt into the online Application Form of CUET (UG) – 2025.

Ques 10 : What is the role of NTA in CUET (UG) – 2025 ?

Ans : NTA has been entrusted with the responsibility of conducting the CUET (UG) – 2025.

The role of NTA is confined to the registration of candidates, issuing admit cards, conducting exams, hosting answer keys and invite challenges, finalizing answer keys, and processing and declaring results.

Eligibility, reservation, admission, etc. are as per the rules and regulations of the respective Central University/Participating Institutions.

NTA has no role in the admissions to the Participating Institutions.

Ques 11 : What is the responsibility of applicants?

Ans : Applicants should go through the information about the course, number of seats, eligibility, reservation, admission policy, tests in CUET (UG) – 2025 to which the desired courses are mapped, etc. available on the website of the concerned University /Institution / Organization where they want admission and ensure that they are eligible for the desired course and the test which they should take in CUET (UG) – 2025 and apply accordingly.

It is the sole responsibility of the candidates to be clear about their choices and the requirements of the Universities where they want admission and ensure that they fulfill the eligibility requirements and thereafter fill the form correctly.

Ques 12 : Which Central Universities or Institutions are participating in this CUET (UG) – 2025?

Ans : Please refer to the NTA website https://exams.nta.ac.in/CUETUG/ for the complete list of participating Institutions.

Ques 13 : Is it compulsory for a candidate who desires to join any Central University to appear in CUET (UG) – 2025?

Ans : Yes, a candidate who wants to get admission to any UG courses in any Central University or its affiliated colleges for the academic year 2025-26 must appear in CUET (UG) – 2025.

It has been mandated that admission to UG courses of Central Universities for the academic year 2025-26, will be done based on NTA Score obtained in CUET (UG) – 2025.

Ques 14 : What is the mode of conducting the exam?

Ans : It will be conducted in Hybrid Mode (Computer-Based Test/Pen & Paper).

Ques 15 : What is the pattern of the test?

Ans : The test will be objective type. The question paper will comprise Multiple-choice questions.

Ques 16 : What is the maximum number of tests that can be chosen by a
candidate ?

Ans : The maximum number of tests to be taken is 06 only.

Ques 17 : I want to apply to the affiliated college of Central University; do I have to appear in CUET (UG) – 2025 for that ?

Ans : Yes. For getting admission to Central Universities CUET (UG) – the 2025 Score is compulsory. Admission to affiliated colleges will also be based on CUET (UG) – 2025 Score only.

Ques 18 : How do I apply for CUET (UG) – 2025 ?

Ans : You can submit your online Application Form for CUET (UG) – 2025 at https://exams.nta.ac.in/CUET-UG/. Please check the NTA website for the registration dates.

Candidates who wish to appear for CUET (UG)–2025 are advised to go through the Information Bulletin of the desired University/ Universities/Participating Institution, for the tests to be chosen, for the courses desired, before applying.

Ques 19 : What documents or certificates do I need to upload along with the Application Form ?

Ans : Candidates need to upload the following with the application form :

  • Scanned images of photograph and signature.
  • Certificates in respect of PwBD/Category/BPLCertificate as applicable.
  • The documents/certificates etc., shall be verified directly at the time of admission by the University.

Ques 20 : What is the minimum/maximum Age criterion for applying to CUET (UG) – 2025?

Ans : There is no such criterion for applying to CUET (UG) – 2025. However, admission to any University or Participating Institution is subject to age criteria that may be applicable as per their rules and regulations thereon.

Ques 21 : How will I get my Admit Card ?

Ans : The Admit Card will be uploaded on the NTA website https://exams.nta.ac.in/CUET-UG/ as per the schedule communicated through the website. Candidates need to check the Admit Card carefully for all particulars e.g. Roll No. Name, Subject Group, Date of Birth, Gender, Examination Centre Name, City, medium opted, Category, etc.
No physical Admit Cards will be issued

Ques 22 : What documents do I need to carry to the examination centre on the day of the examination ?

Ans : Candidates MUST bring the following documents on the day of the examination at the test centre :

  • Admit Card along with Undertaking downloaded from the NTA website (a clear printout on A4 size paper).
  • Any one of the original and valid Photo Identification Proof issued by the government – PAN card/Driving License/Voter ID/ Passport/ Aadhaar Card (With photograph)/ E-Aadhaar/ Ration Card./ Aadhaar Enrolment No. with Photo. All other IDs/Photocopies of IDs even if attested/scanned photos of IDs in mobile phones will NOT be considered valid ID Proof.
  • PwBD certificate issued by the Competent Authority, if claiming relaxation under the PwBD category. The scribe must also carry an Undertaking regarding educational qualification, etc, a passport-size photograph, and a valid government identity.

You also need to carry the following :

  • Drinking water in a transparent bottle
  • A simple transparent pen
  • One passport-size photograph (same as uploaded on the Online Application Form) for pasting on the specific space in the Attendance Sheet at the Centre during the examination.

Note : Candidate will not be allowed to take personal items such as mobile phones, digital/analog watches, food items, study material, lockets, bags, electronic gadgets, or any other prohibited items into the testing room. You are advised not to bring these to the test centre.

Ques 23 : Can I take the exam from any computer?

Ans : No, a candidate will have to appear for the exam on a pre-assigned workstation of the test centre allocated to him/her mentioned in the Admit Card.
